I want to do a piece that is alot like that vest / scarf that I did a while ago but I want to trim it in a darker yarn ( talked about the orig here; http://www.knittinghaven.com/parlor/viewtopic.php?t=6268&highlight=scarf+vest ). It is to be off white, kind of a dark cream color and for the trim that I want to use is a pretty decorative brown and metalic coppery ribbon type yarn. I want to finish and start each row of the front with that yarn but I do nto want to have to knot it off with every change up. Is there another way to make this work?
Perhaps somehow twist the yarns,
do my few stitches of trim,
knit the trim back,
then leaving the decorative ribbon yarn ball there, twisting back to the base creamy color above the spot that the last row switched?
Does that make any sense?
Will it work or am I missing something critical? _________________ Keeping myself in stitches here; http://knancy-knitter.blogspot.com/

That sounds lovely.
Do you have two balls of the trim yarn? If so, you could use one ball for each side. _________________ [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/counter/w3Fpqgo/]

No I do not, I was planning on turning off half of the ball n working half on either side. I only want to do two or three stitches on the edge of the piece, a skinny stripe, so I'll not need all that much of the trim yarn, I will start it with a stripe of two rows, purled, accross shoulder to shoulder to add more detail to the back, then continue the color from there down the front edges.
Do I hook/turn/twist them around each other to connect the cream to the brown metalic?
Is there anything I should look out for, be awair of before I start to stripe?
Should I work the ribbon yarn with a looser tension then the off white acrylic? I've never worked with ribbon yarn before. _________________ Keeping myself in stitches here; http://knancy-knitter.blogspot.com/

It's working pretty well hils, thanks for asking. You can see the results on my blog, link V. The yarn is a bit difficult as it is open to two strands for about 3/4 of it's length with the color dots holding the strands together intermittantly. It's looking pretty tho. I've done the cast off for the neck now.
I've manamged to solve a few problems of working this way; I found that if I plastic bag the balls for each side-stripe together, the copper/brown ribbon paired with the outside bit of white, it keeps things form getting too tangled as I work. The ribbon has a mind of it's own tho, it continously lets go of it's wind in the ball as it is so slippery, so I unwind a bit n rubber band it until I need more. Otherwise the whole thing would come unwound n be a huge tangled mess. _________________ Keeping myself in stitches here; http://knancy-knitter.blogspot.com/
