Wow.. I've just discovered that knitting backwards makes turning the heel a whole lot faster and easier... Very Happy

Sounds good.

I still haven't tried it properly but I will get round to it soon.

GA, what is that? Sounds interesting. I get the hole in the sock when I turn the heel, any suggestion on ways to improve that?

Erin... A while back, I found a youtube on how to knit backwards...

http://knittinghaven.com/parlor/viewtopic.php?p=85503&highlight=knitting+backwards#85503

Since then, I've been using it on st. st. on the kimono that I've been working on..

Since I also have a pair of socks in progess.. two on the same needles.. it's a PITA to turn the work to purl on the heels.. so, I decided to try the knitting backwards, and it worked like a charm... Much faster as I didn't have to constantly untangle balls of yarn, or worry about losing stitches off the slick needles..

Great idea, counting stitches would be easier that way too. Putting backwards knitting on my 'things to learn' list
