I make this candy for my son n his frirends. They have formed a cult like craving for it. It started out being called Ooey-Gooeys but after leaving the tray in the fridge for an hour or so and not being able to cut it or get it out of the tray they dubbed it;

IMMORTALITY CANDY

1 bottle corn syrup (about 2 cups
1 bag milk chocloate or dark chocolate chips ( two cups)
1 bag butterscotch chips (two cups)
about 4 or 5 cups of Speical K breakfast cereal , (possibly more or even less)
a very large lump of real butter, (about two tablespoons).

One very large pot,
a large sturdy, comfortable stirring spoon,
an 8x12 inch tray or any flat dish that will hold the mixture,
nonstick spray.

In a large pot warm 1/2 bottle ('bout 1 cup) of corn syrup.
Add the milk chocolate chips, stir until the chips are melted, add the butter stir to allow it to melt.
Add the cereal to the mix stirring, it will get stiff. Add enough that there should be no dry spots but no runny choci mix left in the corners of the pan.
Spray your flat dish well with the nonstick spray.
Pour/spoon the mixture into the flat dish and push it down until it fills the corners and lies evenly distributed in the dish. Make sure you get all of the cereal bits out of the pot.
Warm the rest of the corn syrup in the same large pot (no need to wash the pot between meltings) and again stir until it is all melted. Butterscotch takes longer to melt then the chocolate so keep striring.
Pour the butterscotch syrup over the chocolate cereal in the flat dish. It will run between the lumpy mixture and fill in most of the air pockets.
Set the dish, covered, in the refrigerator to cool and set.
Cut in bars (or slices for adults) to serve.
It is intensly sweet and very melty/messy in the hand, I think that is a large part of it's charm.

Measuring is not critical for this recipe. You can easily eyeball the corn syrup to determine the amount.
