Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time, but as the holidays approach (faster and faster, it seems) I feel like I'm drowning in good intentions while the "to do" list just keeps getting bigger!

I'm hosting a "happily handmade" holiday party early in December, it's kind of a twist on a holiday get together. I've asked each guest to make something handmade and bring it to swap, everyone will leave with a handmade gift and, hopefully, a new friend! I decided that as a hostess gift I would make each guest a dishcloth--seemed like it would be a piece of cake when I thought of it! Now there are baby things that need to get done for a new niece or nephew due after the holidays, a birthday gift for my best friend--her birthday is Dec. 17, and to top it all off, I've gotten myself started on socks and can't seem to put them down! Laughing AND I'm going away for a wedding in a couple of weeks and have to get ready for that.

Okay, okay, I'm breathing fine, actually better now that you've listened to my panic attack. Laughing I need to be accountable for these cloths--I need 30 in all. I've gotten 2 put aside for this--"only" 28 more to go! Laughing

(If you hear of any more bright ideas from this side of the peanut gallery, kindly remind me of what sanity might be like.....)

Terry Very Happy

This seems to be something us ladies do to ourselves all the time!!
But now you've told us - we'll have to take on the responsibility of helping you to complete your tasks + stay sane!!
Hmm - thats another task we've taken on Rolling Eyes
Seriously - I love your idea of the handmade party !!

I do like the idea of the party....but, are you certain you want to continue with your plan of making each person a dish cloth? How about making just a few and then having a drawing?
Make a list.....follow it!
As Hils said....we'll try to push you along to the finish line....
Report in and let us know how you're doing. We are all heading into the time of year we all get a little squirrely.
Confused

Hils, think of what a great party it would be if the knitters from this forum were to get together!

I hope my party goes as well as I envision it, and you're right, now I'm accountable to all of you to make sure I stay on track! Laughing

You're probably right, Holly, but I have it in my head that EVERYONE should leave with a hostess gift, handmade, of course, so I will plod along to the finish line......

I've finally chosen all the yarn, colors to compliment every kitchen, I hope, and now I just have to get--and stay--busy!

Thanks, everyone, I'm really going to need your help! Laughing Last night I sat down to knit and within about 15 minutes my eyes just wouldn't stay open---needless to say, I didn't do but a few rows. Well, today should be better, yesterday was a tough day at work and today I expect it will be easier, maybe tonight I'll be able to stay awake!

If you need help... maybe some of us could pitch in... One or two dishcloths are easy.. and we in the states could get them to you in no time...

Oh Terry! It's so hard when you have your mind set on something and don't want to disappoint.

A couple of thoughts for you. Are you able to knit in the car? If so, always keep a dishcloth with you for when you're a passenger on the way to somewhere. (I'm going to take my knitting with me tomorrow, when DH and I will be in the car for the best part of 8 hours.) Would you be able to take some knitting away with you when you go to the wedding?

Keep us posted with your progress, and we'll try and keep you on track.
