OOh, Katknit, that yarn sounds so lovely!
Joy, and Pictish, so glad you are joining us!!
My MIL gave me 8 skeins of a soft yellow yarn. It's acrylic *sigh*, but it was free, and it is a perfect color for cables. It's Mary Maxim Aran Irish Twist. Its a tan-yellowy..I don't know, it almost looks like butter.

What I like about KALs is that everyone chooses a different yarn for the same pattern so we all end up with a unique garment.

I've seen a gorgeous lemon CPH on Ravelry - is it Rogue or CPH you're doing Lobug? I love yellow - not sure it's totally right for my red hair but who cares - it cheers me up. And acrylic = easycare - so you can just stick it in the washing machine Cool

Yes, I do like the easy care thing with acrylic. I am terrible about separating laundry!! Laughing
Actually, I am doing the Celtic Icon sweater from Inspired Knits. It's a cabled hoodie. I already had the pattern, and wanted to do it for me at some point. So it's kind of more a cabled hoodie KAL Laughing

I wish I had red hair Smile
I have recently gone blonde again so the brown yarn I have chosen should go well with it, not sure about the cables showing well on brown though !

Well, I got really upset with my current project last night, so had to take a break. So I decided to see if I can get gauge/tension for the pattern. I am really going to like this yarn, I think! It has a different feel than any other acrylic I've used. It's really soft, but has excellent stitch definition- and I don't think it will pill too badly. Smile I didn't get gauge yet, but was able to calm down and re-approach the current project without as much frustration and depression. Laughing

Katknit, you may find that you really like working from a chart. I enjoy it more now than written instructions. The first little bit requires translation, but after awhile it gets easier. Very Happy

Still trying to find gauge Mad I may have to go with a red acrylic that is lighter weight. I can't make up my mind. I can get gauge with the red, but like the butter better. I'll have to do a lot of math adaption for the butter, and I'm not sure I'm up for it. I've been doing a lot of designing lately, and really want to work on one where I can just knit from the pattern!
