Feb 1st if that's OK with others who'd like to join in. If that's too soon we'll wait a bit. So who's joining in? I think we'll need a bit of support with this one, don't you Nony.

Embarassed I know I will. GrannieAnnie will probably be finished with her new sweater by the time I figure this one out. I am afraid I will be asking lots of questions. Embarassed

I have just sorted out some yarn I could use from my stash.
I've just read through the pattern & in the notes, it says to change up a size in needles at the end of each ball. Their yarn has 100m per ball, my yarn has over 216m per ball!! So I'll have to do a bit of 'fudging there!
I'm not going to do picot edging as I'll crochet an edge on afterwards - that is of course if I finish!!
So I guess that means I'm in - I'll try & keep up but I think I was def the last to finish in the last KAL!!

Carol: is Feb 1st Ok for you? How about you Katknit.

I've printed the chart out from Elann's website and it's easy to follow (and to see). And I don't really like charts. I think I understand how to start but I've never done a provisional cast on so this is new territory for me.

I still have to wind and swatch but I'll be ready by Feb 1st.

Hils: it's not a race, just a group of friends helping each other to make something beautiful. So you take as much time as you need.

I am hoping it shows up today. But if you want to wait a couple of weeks that might be good for me. I have had something come up and Feb. is going to be a VERY busy month for me Shocked ...non-knittingwise, so I am open to any time...it just may take me a while to finish Embarassed

OK we'll wait a couple of weeks if that's alright with everyone else. Katknit might be ready to start with us by then too.

I should be able to join in by mid-month. I only have 5 squares left to do on the mitre square afghan, then I will feel free to knit anything else. I will still need to assemble the squares, but that will be strictly an 'at-home' job. I always have a knitting project with me and the birds nest smoke ring will fit nicely in my purse. Count me in - my daughter has a lovely skein of pink yarn (as well as a purple skein) that I think she will be willing to part with since she has informed me that she really doesn't like knitting anyway.

If you convert that yarn into a smokering, she may just want it back... Laughing

I decided to buy the elann yarn that the pattern uses; hopefully it will arrive next week. The yarn that my daughter has is a mohair-like yarn which I think would be too itchy around the neck/face and since the elann yarn was so reasonably priced, I thought I'd give it a try.

Got my yarn, so I can start pretty much whenever.

In the meantime, I'll keep working on the Mitre Square Afghan and I still need to do my gauge swatches for summer sweaters AND I received the first shipment of the LOTR club.

How about starting next weekend if everybody's ready. That should give you all time to swatch if you want to and get sorted out. What do you all think?
