I'm sorry but I started last night! Hope no-one minds - I did a bit last week to test pattern & got myself confused. Last night I started again & did 6 rows. Probably won't pick it up again for a few days now as I came to a halt on row 7

Pattern says end of row 6 place marker
Row 7 - pattern then place marker (before row end) - then k1 ssk - remove marker - I presume this will be the marker from end of row 6
- does this mean the end of the rows from now on has moved around the ring? Ther's another place further on in pattern where it does this again

Its on of those things you feel an ejeet asking but I've never come across this before - what do you think??

You are welcome to start anytime you want! Now, we can ask your experience as we go along. I also got the impression when I read the pattern that the markers will be moving around. What do others think?

I started last night too. I only got as far as row 2 of the pattern, but it looks like the marker moves only a couple of times to accommodate the upcoming cable - when I get to that part, I'll be sure to post what I experience.

I like working with this elann.com yarn (so far). Um, I didn't do a gauge swatch; I figured this was kinda like a scarf and that if it's off a little, it's not a big deal, right? Besides, doesn't everything fix itself in blocking??????? Laughing

I think it's to accommodate the cable too. and to keep the pattern repeat at 11sts. As I read it, you PM then work a few stitches then remove the marker that is already there from the previous row. The stitches between PM and RM and the stitches at the end of row 8 add up to 11, plus 10 x the stitches in brackets gets your stitch count back to 121.

I hope this explanation makes sense. I think it's going to be a case of blindly following the pattern and not analysing it too much.

I might start tonight but I'm not sure about the cast on so I'll see how it goes.

Good luck everybody.

Got started and have got to row 11. Just did as the pattern said using 2 markers. Placed the second one when instructed, worked next stitches then removed the first one. It works fine.

Oh, we'll miss you Katknit! Maybe next time?

I'm still on row 2. I'm trying desperately to get my afghan done. i have three strips sewn - two to go, then to join those 5 strips into the afghan and add the border!

My company is leaving about noon tomorrow, so I have done nothing but the cast on Embarassed and may have to take a day or so to get my head back straight... Confused But, I have had a glorious time. I am glad #1 son was able to get extra days off.

Hils: don't feel bad! I misspoke, I'm only on row 1 of the pattern (I thought I had made it to row 2 but was mistaken).

After a good start, I left it until this weekend to start a summer cardigan and finish my cardigan with the cabled front band. But I have done a complete pattern repeat and there are no mistakes in the pattern or anything and when you get into it, you can 'read' your knitting which makes it easier. I'm hoping to be somewhere near finished by next month, ready to start the next 2 knit-a-longs.

Knit knit knit. Can you see the smoke coming off my needles? Laughing
