I've worked the two at a time socks up to the heel and one heel n heel tab is complete but no matter what I do, I can not get the second heel tab to work. I've undone it several times, the yarn is getting raggidy and I am loosing patience. Mad It was going along so nicely. Confused
Looking at Silvers sock class she speaks of wrapped stitches. What on earth are they? Can it be done with the, K1,slip1 n purl back, heel tab?
I keep finishing the heels with the, K1, Slip one, but can not manage to pick up correctly for the gussets, do I need another needle?. The stitch count has been wrong, the yarn has been on the wrong side, It's getting horrid. I do not understand this 'yarn wrapping of stitches', color me lost . . .

OK.. I do Silver's short row heels all the time... wrapping a stitch means.. on the knit side... you knit until one stitch remains... bring the yarn forward between the last worked stitch, and the one remaining unworked... slip the unworked stitch to the right needle.. take the yarn to the back.. slip the unworked stitch back onto the left needle.. Turn you work and purl.. leaving that unworked stitch unworked... Now, you have a wrapped stitch..

You purl until one stitch remains, and take the yarn back.. slip that stitch, bring the yarn forward, and slip that stitch back to the left needle... it's unworked... Turn your work and knit until there is one stitch left before the last wrapped stitch.. and wrap that stitch..

You keep doing this back and forth, wrapping the next stitches, and effectively shortening your rows... until you have just heel stitches to be worked..

Typically a pattern will say something like wrap and turn until 8 stitches remain... So you work those 8 stitches, and then you begin to pick up your wrapped stitches adding them back to the row, and you work each row.. I tend to work them like an ssk... I slip the stitch, then pick up the wrap, and put it on the same needle.. then move them to whichever needle I need to work them from.. and work them together, like an ssk or k2tog... Then slip that stitch.. and work the row to the wrapped stitch at the other end... work it as a decrease.. slip it, and work to the other end of the row... so on, and so forth, until all the wrapped stitches have been worked.. then knit across, and continue in the round with your sock...

If you go back to Silver's tutorial, and study the pictures carefully, I think it will make more sense... Do up a swatch and just practice what she shows you there, until it makes sense to you... I'll try to help as best as I can long distance like this...

Here's a video that might help... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oOOjcWmJsc

Thanks guys Very Happy ,
Nony, seeing is so much more then telling. I am a visual learner. Auditory only works for me in music, and verbal does not go in as well either, visual is a much faster grab for my brain. "Show me," I should be from Missouri instead of the 'Garden State'. Laughing

BTW, that middle video is another kind of 'wrap stitch', it speaks to the lace stitch, not the sock heel wrapped stitch thing at all. It can be confusing when you have a wrapped stitch n a wrap stitch Confused but hey the other two were great. Now I can get on with my socks.

You all rock Very Happy.
