Planning to take yarn and needles to make tube socks on holiday with me !
Question
Do other sock knitters keep a record of how many rows they knit so that the other sock matches perfectly or just judge the length of the second sock to match the first ?
Question
Are tube socks considered as socks by sock knitters or is it considered that the tube sock knitter is cheating by not doing the toes and heel shaping as in "normal" socks?

Since I do my socks as a pair, I don't have to worry about row counting.. But I do know knitters who have 2 sets of dpns, and will start one sock on one set and the other on the other set.. Then they'll do the toe of sock 1 and then the toe of sock 2.. then the foot of each sock, then the heel.. so on and so forth, so that they do the same number of rows on each sock... Does that make sense?

I'm also a firm believer in the philosophy: "It's your project, do what you want to, and don't worry about what other people think..."

Unless I'm working a pattern that means that I can count back and see how many repeats I've done, then I'll measure them rather than count the rows.

I measure but if I happen to be using stripey yarn and can make both socks match I use the colours as a guide too.
